Orangatang 4President 70mm Longboard Wheels

The Orangatang "4President" is the smaller of Orangatang's original two race wheels - the larger one being the 75mm In Heat.

Whilst a little out of date as a competitive downhill race wheel, the 4President is, in our opinion, one of the best all-round grippy longboard wheels out there right now.

Razor sharp lips and a medium-wide 53mm contact patch give the 4President plenty of grip - ok, maybe not as much as a modern super-supported race wheel, but the smaller core gives a very plush ride for a 70mm wheel.

Like all Orangatang's longboard wheels, it's poured from "Happy Thane," which is a sugary, fast rolling formula that leaves tons of 'thane all over the road if that's your thing.

At 70mm the 4President is a perfect "medium" sized longboard wheel for a lot of setups - fast enough to roll over the rougher stuff, and small and light enough to chuck around and not worry about wheelbite too much.

There are three duros available:

• 77A (Blue). This is a bit slower than the other two duros and won't last as long for sliding, but it is super plush and very grippy.
• 80A (Orange). If you had to push us to pick a favourite we'd probably go with this one, we think the medium duro brings out the best in the wheel shape.
• 83A (Purple). The fastest rolling of the three duros, it's also longer lasting and less grippy. Maybe a bit harsh for really rough surfaces, but still a great wheel for cruising about, especially if you are mostly inhabiting smooth roads and pavements.

 

Like a lot of Orangatang grip wheels, (which we would consider to be the 4President, In Heat and Kegel) those sharp lips don't last very long and the urethane isn't the grippiest out there - but these wheels are a hell of a lot of fun once you've broken them in. The geometry and shape of the wheel is very balanced even now, over a decade after they came out. Highly recommended!
