Pantheon Karma 92mm Longboard Wheels
The newest and most exciting offering in the world of big wheels for skating, and indeed racing, a long way: The Pantheon Karma.
Starting with the obvious: it's massive. 92mm in diameter makes this a beast - it's not for your every day skating and I wouldn't advise them under a cruiser.
Pantheon have started from scratch with this one to design a wheel that rolls smoothly, grips well, lasts forever and doesn't weigh a tonne.
The core is known as the Nautilus core, after the ancient mollusc. The spiral pattern allows it to withstand the pressure of the ocean down to 800m. The mollusc, that is. We are yet to have confirmation that you can skate these on the sea bed. However, the logic is that the spiral spokes diffuse stress out from the core into the supportive outer disk making for a lighter and longer lasting product.
The shape is narrower than many comparable wheels and was designed to fit under any Pantheon setup. Throw in some trickery like pouring upside down and a supportive inner lip and the grip is increased whilst having a more predictable slide.
The urethane was optimised to work best based on the core, the lip and the urethane depth - taking all this into account, they could remove any excess urethane thus making the wheel lighter whilst having it feel as plush as possible.
It's got to be said, Jeff's done his homework! We expect these to be the new benchmark for big long-distance wheels.
Whether you've got a bigger trip in mind or are in the habit of using your board to commute to work - there's a good chance these wheels will take effort out of your ride and replace it with joy.
